I

Lovely Mother Nature:
Knowledge-laden teacher,
Godly, gracious feature,
Silent, stealthy preacher.

II

Beneath the foot are leaves in fall;
Iciness reigns supreme in winter.
Springtime commands growth in all
And sultry is the name of summer.
The shining sun adorns the day,
Moon and stars for the night segment.
In all, a subtle attempt to say
Times, wet or dry, are but transient.

III

The mass devouring of large farms
By locusts in resonant swarms.
Bees united made of honey —
Honey worth a lot of money.
Soldier ants in one battalion
Make a rather stronger union.
“L’union fait la force,” say the French.
Unity’s flame is hard to quench.

IV

The fall of thick, gigantic oaks
By short, persistent little strokes.
The breaking down of solid rocks
To the soil that grows the hollyhocks.
The termites’ slow and steady pace
Of building anthills wins the race.
The lesson voiced in silent yelps:
That every little helps.

V

Lovely Mother Nature:
Knowledge-laden teacher,
Godly, gracious feature,
Silent, stealthy preacher.
