Selffull Is, in Fact, a Word
What if choosing yourself wasn’t selfish, but sacred?
I said no,
sat still,
demanded a softness from a world that only rewarded exhaustion and putting oneself last.
Selfish — they called me.
But —
Is it selfish, really?
No, that’s not the word.
Selffull is.
Because Selffull is, in fact, a word
Selffull is loving silence,
It is taking a breather even amidst chaos,
Wanting to have your coffee in silence,
Or deleting the message you typed out at midnight — the one that begged to be seen.
It’s knowing you don’t need to perform pain to be worthy of peace.
It is giving love,
but saving some for yourself.
Selfful is sometimes blowing your own trumpet,
picking the sunny spot in the room, even if someone else prefers it too,
or taking a break even when the sink full of dishes is whispering your name.
It is not abandoning yourself —
whether it’s for people who will notice
or not notice…
