Tears Dwell In Us

Tears have a peculiar quality of being visible on the
bare skin of our cheeks or impalpably drowning in the
gorges of our pink and shiny throats before trailing off.
Goliath of our lives —
Inexact, like worldly realms seen through foggy fabrics.
Exact, like a comfortable companion that corners.

Tears are an angst central to our silhouettes,
dwarfish complexities through which our worth enhances itself,
a personal poverty with periodicity,
devouring us in a devouring move.

We see people even on icy mornings
with brazen looped breeze on their faces, slight unease,
frozen nerves, hollow gazes… setting out to start their day.
An ordinary scene of grit, but our eyes are unenlightened on their obligations...

Tears do… Tears enlighten themselves on all obligations.
For tears are another translation of pain,
curved and mangled by the innervation of eyes,
dazed and defeated,
a dull bellowing from surly skylights.
