Mixed emotions —
Tears,
Fears,
Laughter,
Excitement,
Joy,
Regret,
Hopes,
Dreams,
Disappointment,
Acceptance,
Forgiveness,
Gratitude,
Pain,
Trauma,
Insight,
Memories.

The end is nigh,
Destined to say goodbye.

A traumatic lesson taught well,
Learned even better,
A cruel heart beautifully disguised.

Another heart destroyed,
Scar tissue healed into a barrier of fortitude,
Pain a new muscle memory,
That now beats to a wounded drum.

A love expansively given,
Decades it held on to its hopes and dreams,
Patiently waiting,
Blissfully certain the truth would dawn,
Until the destructive deception hit home.
