For a long time you thought you could do anything
that you were special
unbeatable
that no one was better than you

And then one day you stopped believing

For a while it seemed like you had time to do it all
that you’d be great
unstoppable
that the world revolved around you

And then one day you stopped believing

For a while life seemed rich with opportunity
everything was fun
indescribable
that the challenges made you you

So why did you stop believing?

You stopped believing because little by little
the world started to cut you down
you started to fail
things were no longer easy

You stopped believing because over and over
people took advantage
ripped you apart
and left you helplessly scattered

You stopped knowing what you really wanted
because you began to realize
that the things you thought you did
didn’t bring you joy

You stopped feeling the strength in every step
because you lost the wind in your sails
You gave up when you started to see
that life and everyone in it was giving up on you

When that happens, who wouldn’t stop believing?
