If it was for the purposes of
exchanging information
or for the praising of actions
perhaps an acknowledgement of interactions
or for the sharing of love
then, I should smile

But, the chatter and the shouts
voices raised without communicating
just for the sake of the sound
as if as a declaration of an existence
like the qualification of dominance over another person’s voice
a crass intrusion to a party
to which they were not invited
raising their own voice
just for
the sake of it
