How the Apostolic Mission is Redefining Modern Faith
Rediscovering Faith: From Tradition to Apostolic Action
Religion is roaring back. The New York Times says we’re seeing “A major religious shift.”
New Pew Research shows 43 percent have grown more spiritual over their lifetimes, while just 11 percent have become less spiritual.
You thought Christianity was dying? Pew found that 92 percent of Americans hold one or more key Christian beliefs in a supernatural Spirit:
- Eighty-six percent agree we have a soul and a physical body.
- Eighty-three percent believe in God or a universal spirit.
- Seventy-nine percent say there is something spiritual beyond the natural world.
- Seventy percent believe in an afterlife (heaven, hell, or both).
- And a decisive 92 percent believe in one or more of the above, 59 years after a Time Magazine cover asked “Is God Dead?”
“And although younger Americans are less traditionally religious than older adults (as measured by rates of prayer, identifying with a religious group, attending religious services, and some other beliefs and practices), the age gaps are much smaller on several of the survey’s questions about spirituality,” Pew reported.
