Too bright to sleep through: The last full moon of 2019 — and the decade — peaked on Dec. 12 at 12:12 a.m. That Cold Moon peaks on this Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on 12/12 at 12:12.

Miracles abound around this North American history. The widely venerated tilma image (above) created on fabric should have unraveled, fallen apart within 20 years. During periods when the faith was outlawed or threatened in Mexico, the tilma would be attacked and threatened (including an attempting bombing 100 years ago) but this true icon remains intact nearly 500 years later.

Knowing more miracles are possible, more than 200,000 will gather near Chicago to mark this day. Far more will gather from around the world in Mexico City. Father Mirosław Król, chancellor of Orchard Lake Schools, is there now leading an international pilgrimage.
