“Who touched me?” by Yongsung Kim

Imprisoned in panic, the suffering soul has not lived out its faith for some time nor cherished any hope of escape.

Unmotivated, tired of the vain repetitions of the days, she no longer prays.

Amidst the gale of bad thoughts in her heart comes a breeze of hope as she recalls the teachings of the Gospels.

She admires Zacchaeus’ attitude toward seeing Jesus. She envies the courage of the woman who dared to steal his healing by touching the Lord’s clothes.

She wishes she had the humility of the foreigner who compared herself to dogs waiting for crumbs falling from their masters’ tables.

She wished she had the faith of the centurion who asked for just one word from the Master to heal the distant sick servant.

In all situations, the power of God acted and was victorious. He exists. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Perhaps, who knows, she would be spiritually depressed if she mourned the loss of faith as Martha and Mary mourned the death of their brother Lazarus.

Believe, and just as God’s Word says, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Miracle happens.

Then invigorated and thankful soul intones great praise and runs to announce Jesus to others.

Mt. 15:21–28

21 And Jesus departed thence and went into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those parts and cried out, saying, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me, for my daughter is miserably demon-possessed.

23 But he answered her no word. And his disciples came to him, and besought him, saying: Send her away, for she comes shouting after us.

24 And he answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then she came and worshiped him, saying, ‘Lord, help me!

26 And he answered and said, It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.

27 And she said, Yes, Lord, but the little dogs also eat of the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said to her: O woman, great is thy faith! Let it be done to you as you wish. And from that hour, her daughter was made whole.
