The photo that captured Twitter’s attention — photo by author

I don’t do social media much anymore, other than YouTube and Pinterest. Do those even count as social media?

But since I’m trying to get the word out about my cat stories, I’ve been playing around with Twitter a bit. I managed to get rid of all of the political rants on my feed by following fellow writers and a lot of cat accounts. Also some gardening channels. So now it’s not the toxic mess that it was initially. I actually enjoy seeing what are mostly cat photos now.

There’s this one large cat account that I follow, Missy the Bobtail, @MissyBBBobtail. She posts daily and always has super cute cat photos. She also likes to bring attention to other cat accounts.

It also just so happens that Missy and Bug could be twins.

So one day a couple of weeks ago, she posts a photo and asks people to say hello back with their cat’s photo. So I quote-tweeted the post with Bug’s photo.

Check out those stats!

And almost immediately I started getting notifications of people commenting, liking, and retweeting my post.
