Odd cat noises were coming from behind the tiles in her shower

She was a student at the University of the Arts on Broad St in Center City Philadelphia. She was a senior on track to graduate in the spring.

She and her cat, Charlie (I think I’m remember his name correctly) had lived in a small studio apartment since her freshman year. She and Charlie had been ideal tenants. Rent paid the first of the month, no complaints for their neighbors.

That’s one of the reasons I dispatched handyman Leroy to check out the problem when she called and mentioned she thought she had a leak in her tile shower stall.

She mentioned she’d be in class all day and whomever I sent to fix the leak should mind Charlie and make sure he was not able to run out the front door of the apartment. I knew from past experience she loved her cat more than any leaky shower stall.

I warned Leroy of Charlie’s presence and he assured me he was aware and would take precautions to keep him in the apartment while he was working there.

He’s a sly little crook who’s work was far from perfect but good enough. He’s worked on emergency projects like this any number of times and successfully stemmed leaks.
