Cats excel at finding those perfect spots to become highly efficient solar collectors. It’s been a long stretch of clouds, cold and rain in Texas the last two weeks. Now we’re starting to return to our more typical seasonal weather for winter which means mostly sunshine and 60s.

Mater is blind and cognitively impaired and his disabilities mean he can’t jump up onto any furniture. But the rug by the patio door is just his speed for sun bathing. I can find him here most mornings, even when there isn’t any sun. He’s always hopeful!

For most of the month, morning cuddle time for the cats has been in blankets on the furniture rather than laying by the windows. It’s so hard being an inside cat in the winter!

Since Mater can’t get on the chair by himself, I lift him to the recliner for the day. Many times he’s still here when I get home from work. He can’t jump up on his own but he’s very capable…
