“Stop Teaching The Cat To Spell,” Said My Spouse
Cats are fascinating creatures
It is not my fault that my cat is smart. Most days, since he knows many words, he will act like he hears you talking to him. On catty days, he knows zero words. But worse than that, the cat can spell. It is my fault. I accidentally taught him the letters to his favorite words.
The cat gets his breakfast at 10 a.m. He starts haunting us at 7 a.m. for his 10 a.m. breakfast. As Dark hangs around daily, I say to my spouse, “I am going to get his f-o-o-d at 10.” It was all good until the day I spelled f-o-o-d, then the cat jumped down and walked to his bowl.
The second spelling word he learned was t-r-e-a-t. When talking about giving the cat treats, you can’t say the word' treat' or you'll cause a cat riot. I would spell the word until the cat walked over to the treat area when he heard the sounds of spelling.
The third instance was when I always spelled the word 'out' when I didn't want the cat in the lanai. This worked until the day we were having the screens repaired. The cat was calmly sitting on the couch until I spelled o-u-t. Then he quickly jumped down and stood at the pool door, waiting for me to open it.
