I have three cats. If you know anything about cats, you know they don’t exactly like to share. Many cat fights have started over a catnip toy or favorite cat bed. At least they have in my house with this clowder.

My cats love to chase after soccer balls. They even make a competition out of that. I’ll throw the squishy soccer balls and they bat them down the hall. The winner is the one who gets their paw on it first. The prize? They get to keep batting the ball around.

I usually keep throwing the balls so that everybody gets a chance to play. It’s the kitty version of a participation ribbon.

My cats’ zoomies are legendary. They chase each other down one hall and back to another with the chaser becoming the chased. They’ll keep going until one of them relents. They’re quite competitive in that way.

There is one thing my cats will share (most of the time).

The sofa.

I intentionally placed comfort over style when I chose my sofa. I also chose a fabric that my cats would want to nap on but not slice open with their little murder mittens.

They only do one of those things.
