Unexpected Neighborhood Cat Drama in My Yard

It happened too fast for me to get it all on camera

She looks relaxed now, finally out from under the car, but it didn’t start that way. It started when I looked out my office window and saw her approaching on the walk leading to my front door. I hadn’t been out yet, had no photos for today, and decided I’d better meet her with my camera. She’s fairly tame. That’s why I didn’t expect her to run away.

By the time I got outside, she had disappeared. I barely saw an orange cat lurking under the car near the back tire on the driver's side, but it ran across the street when I approached the car. I saw it was now lurking across the street behind a garbage can. But where had my favorite feline visitor gone?

Ah, there she is!

You can see in her eyes that she’s not quite over the encounter with the other cat. I talked to her quietly to try to lure her out where I could get a better photo. She responded a bit, so I took a shot.

But I wanted to get her out from under the car. This was a bit better. We’re getting there now.

She’s checking to make sure it’s safe.

The top photo shows the end when she finally trusted it was safe to come out in the sun.
