The views from the roof of the Amir Chakhmaq complex

Yazd is an amazing town. It seems they have been able to resist to the modern urbanisation changes that, for example, happened in Tehran. The place feels authentic and traditional and is well known for it architecture and use of colours. The Jade mosque of Yazd is, of course, the best example of the ‘Yazd style’ but the Amir Chakhmaq Complex feels less polished.

You can take the stairs to the roof of the building. From there you have fantastic views of the town and the surrounding desert and mountains. But the coolest part of the mosque is perhaps the roof itself.

The prominent structure can be easily found, every taxi driver will know how to get you there. Just show them a picture of the complex.
