Machado to Chicago?

The rumor mill is officially turning for Manny Machado. The Orioles third basemen is in the last year of his contract, but it’s almost certain that he won’t resign with the team that signed him in the first place. Now an unlikely caller has knocked on the Orioles door, looking to sign Machado for just a half a year. The Cubs definitely have the pieces to get Manny from the Orioles, which would possibly put together the greatest infield in baseball history. Rizzo, Bryant, Baez and Machado. Be afraid, Be very afraid.

Carrasco Shines

It seems like day after day we’re seeing dominant starts, today was no different. Cleveland Indians starter Carlos Carrasco brought his A game for day game in Milwaukee, he went the full 9 innings with an eye-popping 14 Ks. He did not, however, shut the Brewers out, former Indian Jesus Aguilar had a solid day at the plate going 1–3 with an RBI. For the Tribe, Superstar Francisco Lindor hit a moon shot to right field. It was his 10th of the year, and second in as many games. The Indians have had to rely on their starters a lot this year, having a league leading 4 complete games, helps to lessen the load on their bullpen. Andrew Miller is set to return for the weekend series against division rival Kanas City, maybe he will bring stability to the laboring bullpen. The Brewers head to Colorado for a 4 game set with the Rockies.

The Mets Are The Mets Again

Only the New York Mets could get off to their best start in franchise history in the middle of April, and be just a game above .500 not even in the middle of May. That’s exactly where they found themselves after an Adam Duvall walk off home run on Wednesday, dropping their 9th game in their last 10. No one is hitting above .250 besides Asdrubal Cabrera, their combined ERA aside from Syndergaard and Degrom is over 5.00, and Todd Frazier just landed on the DL. Oh Mets. You’ve broke our hearts again. It’s still early, but the Mets are not giving us many reason to be optimistic.

Fantasy News

Mazara’s On Fire

Nomar Mazara has been a tough nut to crack, he has had flashes of superstar potential, but has been marred by inconsistency. This year he is setting out to improve his overall game to extend it a full 162 games. So far, so good. Mazara is slashing .294/.357/.545 very respectable numbers for the young outfielder. Add to it his seven home runs this month, Mazara has been on a tear. He is a player who will be highly coveted, but if you could pry him away from someone, he is trending way up. His outlook overall is somewhat hindered by the shape of the Rangers team, but he will be in run producing spots all year. If he could become more consistent, Mazara might work his way into fantasy stardom

Mitch Moreland

Moreland provides reliability, he is a very solid left handed hitter who can be a serviceable depth player. He will never produce overwhelming numbers, but that isn’t his game. Or so we thought, Moreland is drilling the ball all around the yard. He has a .347 batting average in a stacked Red Sox lineup, toss in 6 bombs and 19 RBIs, he is beginning to rewrite his narrative. Finding consistent at bats will be difficult for Mitch, the Red Sox boast a boatload of talent, but if he continues to hit the ball like this he will carve out a role in the Red Sox lineup.

Mets Bat Out Of Order

I know that we have called many things “the best moment of the year so far.” This time we’re serious. The hilariously bad New York Mets pulled a move that I haven’t seen since little league. They batted out of order, resulting in an out instead of a double. A major league baseball team batted out of order. Let that sink in for a moment. The Mets started the season hot but the season already seems to be going south.
