The only No 6 batsman in ODI cricket to reach 10000 runs. If you see Dhoni, you will find more records as a Captain than as an individual player. This will be his greatest milestone ever and will be there in the honour boards for a very long time. If the middle order gets exposed in the ongoing series against South Africa, Dhoni will hopefully be able to achieve this number. Inspite of a lot of criticism and lack of form, Dhoni still stands tall when it comes to slowing down the pace of the innings when wickets fall like nine pins in the other end. In each game, when a player is a involved in a huge partnership with Dhoni, the player invariably gets this question from the post match interview. “How was your experience playing alongside MS”. That’s the kind of understanding Dhoni has in the limited form of the game. He has shown to his successors Fitness is non negotiable while the perfect technique is non existent. He has changed games in India’s favour through ones and twos when boundaries aren’t easy to come. He makes even the quickest and athletic short of breath between the wickets. India is still in the search of a middle order batsman who can control the innings and stand till the end when the match is in the opposition’s hand. I am sure, Dhoni himself will find a player who fits perfectly to his spot and will educate him at the earliest before he bids adieu from his most loved limited format of the game.

Great under-stander in the pressure
