It’s been a couple of years since I was on a plane to San Francisco but pitching at the Lean Startup in London event back in June I won the pitch which gained me a place at Lean Startup Week taking place 30th October — 5th November.

It’s been an exciting few months- we’re now on Android in the Play store which opens us up to opportunities for how communities can use us.

As I wait in the departure lounge the thoughts continue to race through my mind — is the person I’m sitting next to a potential technical co-founder or the person on the other side an investor.

A few hours into the flight I decide to have a walk and discover the snack area where a few people were congregating. As we start to talk it turns out there’s a delegation on the flight from the UK government attending Lean Startup Week as well.

The person I was sitting next to in the departure lounge earlier ended up sitting in the seat in front and loaded up a screen of code a few hours in to the flight which gave me the context to ask what he was up to. Unfortunately not the technical co-founder I was looking for but we exchanged details and he said he’d keep in mind if anyone relevant comes up.

Like Twitter, which isn’t explicitly an event app, it is often used and proved useful at events. The same applies for Causr — by downloading the App you have the ability to connect with people before, during and after an event.

One of the main reasons people attend events is for the networking and connectivity.

With people often flying in from all over the world, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with like-minded people, here are just a few;

  1. At the airport before, during and after the flight.
  2. In the days running up to the event.
  3. In the evening and around the core agenda activities.
  4. Finally, after the event there is a common context and shared experience which is one of the 3 pillars that Causr is built on.

If you’re attending Lean Startup Week why not join the Causr community today. I look forward to seeing you there. Feel free to say hi.
