Did you know that only 30% of STEM professionals in Africa are women, and they hold just 10% of leadership positions? According to a report by the World Bank (2019), African women are more likely to pursue STEM education but face significant barriers to career advancement.

In the 2020 Nigerian Women in Tech Report by TechCabal, research revealed that many women chose a STEM degree based on personal interest rather than external or parental pressure. However, the study also found that less than half of these students see themselves pursuing STEM-related careers in the next 5 to 10 years.

As a community of women working in STEM, we understand the challenges with navigating a STEM career. We are committed to empowering African women to thrive and lead in STEM through capacity-building, mentorship and community support.

For us, empowering African women in STEM is not just about filling gaps; it’s about unleashing the potential of a significant portion of the population to drive progress, addressing the gender gap in leadership, and increasing diversity and innovation. Our goal is to create a supportive community that fosters career growth, networking opportunities, and skill-building for women who are shaping the future of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
