Scientists at Isodiol have developed the market’s first non-cannabis derived cannabidiol, made from the hops plant (a cousin of cannabis). The new product, ImmunAG, is now available online in tablet form starting at $75. This may come as a surprise to those who thought CBD could only be extracted from hemp or cannabis plants.

“The widespread belief is that cannabinoids come from cannabis. The actual reality is that cannabis is one of several plants that produce cannabinoids,” explains Christopher Hussey, Chief Communication Officer at Isodiol. It turns out cannabinoids can be found in various plants in the Cannabaceae family.

Moreover, the company claims that their CBD tablets will have greater effectiveness, due to their extraction and purification techniques. The tablets dissolve into the lower intestine, causing “greater bioactivity.”

Finally, as the company points out — “hops are not illegal anywhere.” So to sum up: Isodiol has apparently derived an entirely legal form of CBD from hops, unrelated to the controversial hemp or cannabis plants, which they claim is even more effective than traditionally-derived CBD. This sounds like a pretty big deal. If Isodiol’s claims are correct, then they have managed to beat lawmakers to the punch when it comes to selling CBD legally.
