Does CBD Oil Need to be Refrigerated?

Should CBD oil be refrigerated? Usually, you do not need to refrigerate CBD oil. CBD oil tinctures can remain good at standard room temperature (70°F) for as long as 2 years. However, it is recommended you store your CBD oil tincture in a cool and dark place away from direct sunlight.

If you have stored your CBD oil in the refrigerator by chance, it might become cloudy. Due to the fact that the oil’s viscosity changes in lower temperature and becomes thicker than normal. Give it some time to adjust to the room temperature after taking it out from the refrigerator. Do not heat the CBD oil tincture bottle with an external source like a microwave, as it may break the cannabinoids’ chemical composition.

You may find instructions like “keep the product in a cool place, away from direct sunlight” on the label. This might trigger the thought to store your CBD oil in the refrigerator. But actually, you do not need to do so. Storing your CBD oil in the refrigerator will make it condensed. This is particularly true for CBD oils that have coconut oil or MCT oil as a carrier oil.

Well in this post we will give you a clear idea of how to store CBD oil? We will also discuss if you are supposed to refrigerate CBD oil or not.

Can I Increase CBD Oil’s Shelf Life by Refrigerating?

If you are a regular user and used to buy CBD oil in bulk quantity, you can consider refrigerating them. But only do so when the bottles are sealed. The one you are using right now should not be kept in the refrigerator though. Doing so will decrease your CBD oil shelf life. Alternatively, you can store your CBD oil in your medicine cabinet, drawer or pantry.

How to Store CBD Oil?

Don’t get overwhelmed when it comes to storing CBD oil. Keep it simple. Although the product label might say you should keep it in a cool and dark place, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to store it in the refrigerator.

In order to utilize the true potential of CBD oil, you have to store it in a proper manner. Doing so will ensure the product’s consistency and refrain the ingredients from deteriorating. The sub-zero temperature may change the potency of your CBD oil. But don’t feel sorry, If you have already refrigerated your CBD oil. Just bring it back to room temperature and do not refreeze.

Do not put it in a place where there is access to direct sunlight. You might have noticed that CBD oil tinctures come in dark UV protective glass bottles. The reason behind this is to protect the content inside from light sources. Heat and light can cause the ingredients to chemically react and may therefore become inconsistent.

Final Thoughts

Are you supposed to refrigerate CBD oil? The answer is quite straightforward. You can store it in your refrigerator while not in use and sealed. Keep the one you are currently using in a standard room temperature of 60–70 degrees Fahrenheit.

CBD oil storage should not bother your regular usage of CBD oil. Following the guideline we just discussed above, you can ensure the longevity of your CBD oil product. We also cover helpful topics on CBD oil usage and benefits.
