Diversity is an ongoing priority in most of the organizations. While most of the companies have cracked the code for to hiring diverse population, there are few others that are still getting used to it. Diversity used to be a checkbox in a company but now it is part of the organization culture and structure.

What is diversity? Diversity is the state of having composed various elements in a group or organization. It can be of different people, different races, different cultures and traditions etc. Statistics show that around 78% hire diverse population to improve culture and 67% hire because this increases their financial performance.

There are ideally 3 reasons why companies emphasize on the diversified population. Firstly, to improve culture. Organizations have identified that a diverse culture are more productive and more innovative. Secondly, a diverse culture helps to improve the company performance. It makes employees work smarter and harder because of the company’s shared goals. Thirdly, a diverse culture helps to represent better customers. This feature breaks the barrier of gender and culture bias. This promotes a healthy company image and increases the momentum of the organization.

Diversity is a much prioritized trend in the world of HR and recruiting today and the only challenge for the company is to retain these diverse employees. The current solution to this is the commencement of ERGs which is Employee Resource Groups. This provides the employees with a platform for their expressions and securing their executive backing. Only when the organization stages their diversity principles well, will the company grow and upsurge proficiently.
