On 15 and 16 of January 2019, the CBX team attended this year’s UNLOCK Blockchain Forum in Dubai, UAE. to commemorate the 10 year Anniversary of the Blockchain Inception. The event was held at the popular Ritz Carlton Hotel DIFC featuring over 56 global and regional speakers and hosted over 350participants from around the world including presentations from Nick Spanos, Founder, and CEO of Blocktech; Osman Sultan, CEO of Emirates IntegratedTelecommunications Company; among many others.
The event started off with Walid Abou Zaki, CEO of UNLOCK, welcoming the audience to the 2nd edition of the yearly event. “We are pleased to be holding our second series of UNLOCK on the 10th year anniversary of Bitcoin & Blockchain,” he said. “but we also hope to continue to build an ecosystem that can bring benefit to the users and developers”.
In addition, the forum welcomed more than 30 investment companies across the globe including Dubai Investments, Lavaliere Capital, Block5Capital. And more than 20 blockchain startups including unchain.io, BabelChain, Energy One, Helena Energy, which presented their projects to the audience with the aim of receiving investments.
Osman Sultan, Chief Executive Officer of Du Telecom also delivered a keynote at the conference which talked about Blockchain Platform as a Service (BPaaS) and how it plays an essential role in the formulation of the Smart City Vision alongside technologies such as AI, Internet of Things as well as human influence. The Smart City Vision is part of the Smart Dubai 2021 strategy led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to revolutionize the way government services are delivered, developers are launching many smart initiatives and services with the ultimate goal of making Dubai “the happiest city on earth”.
Christian Dos Santos, Head of Sales for CBX was interviewed many times during the event by different news and media providers. Finally, during the second day of the forum, one of the most noticeable keynote presentations was delivered by Nick Spanos, Founder, and CEO of Blocktech. He deliberately spoke about how Blockchain has transformed from Bitcoin into an emerging industry full of new companies and ideas, although he believes that the ultimate cryptocurrency is and will always be Bitcoin because the government will never be able of controlling it. “Anyone who does not implement what blockchain has to offer, in some way or another, will fall behind. The benefits are just too immense.” He added.
