US Lawmakers Propose Bill for Digital Dollar
Members of Congress have introduced a bill that would require the Treasury to create the first US digital dollar called “e-cash”. The move would effectively oppose plans for a CBDC developed by the Federal Reserve. This version of the dollar would be token-based instead of account-based. Its goal would be to mimic traditional cash, giving users complete privacy and anonymity over their transactions. P2P transactions would be fully supported. In addition, ledgers would not be used in this token-based version of the dollar.

Ronin Network Suffers Major Hack
Axie Infinity’s Ronin Network has suffered possibly one of the largest hacks in DeFi history. The network was exploited for a total of $625M. In an exploit, hackers obtained private keys and forged withdrawals on March 23. The hack was only discovered a few days later when a user could not withdraw several thousand ETH. Later, it was confirmed that ETH and USDC had been drained from their bridge contract. Officials from Ronin are working with law enforcement and forensic experts to ensure that funds are recovered to investors.

Grayscale to Sue SEC If Bitcoin ETF Application Is Rejected
Grayscale is preparing for a legal battle with the SEC over its Bitcoin ETF application. Grayscale had filed in October 2021 and has since been delayed. The move would entail converting its successful GBTC fund into the planned ETF. The fund’s Bitcoin ETF application is set to be decided by the SEC on July 6, 2022.
