Project Four : Research
For this project I want to work on a cover image for the science fiction novel by Issac Asimov called the “Foundation,” which is apart of a larger series of books in the “Foundation Series”. The premise of the novel and the series that it is apart of is based on the concept of “psychohistory,” which is a form of mathematics that focuses on the study of the psychological decisions and motivations of past events.
The image above shows all of the Foundation series novels. As the novels are based heavily in the concepts of psychohistory, much of the artwork previously done on the novels used concepts of psychohistory in the work.
As the novels were written beginning in early 1950, it can be implied from concepts of psychohistory that a good part of the literature’s drama might stem from the tense issue of post World War II and Cold War Era.
