Choosing transfer colleges

Having recently found my transfer college, I would like to share my knowledge with Cecil’s students. It was hard for me to even consider the idea of ever leaving Cecil, but I understand that it is eventually going to be necessary.

My advice is to consider all options. Don’t just count out any college because of a simple detail. Travel, visit, and gain as much information from any school as possible. In addition, this goes the same for applying. You never know who is going to say, “yes.”

Secondly, be sure that you consider every aspect of the school before agreeing to attend. Know how far it is from your house, the cost of tuition, and the degree plan is something you want. Try to get a recommendation for the college you want to attend, and make sure you are choosing it for the right reasons. Don’t just go to the school because your friends are. Make sure whatever transfer college you attend is the one for you.

Lastly, talk it over with whoever is willing to listen. The best decisions are often made when you discuss them with someone you trust. This means confide in your parents, friends, school advisors, and even staff from another college. Just like deciding to leave Cecil is a big decision, so is deciding where to go next.

Overall, my biggest suggestion when choosing a transfer school is to utilize all the resources you have. Deciding on a next-step college is a huge task, and I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors at Cecil and beyond.
