Goals for the fall semester
I like to set a few goals at the beginning of each semester to keep myself on track. It’s helpful to remind myself of what I am working toward throughout my college education. The goals I set aren’t necessarily grade-oriented, but they can be. Sometimes they have more to do with what I can get out of my college experience.
One goal I’ve set for myself is to maintain my GPA. Since this is my last semester, I may be tempted to slack off. I want to continue to put my best into schoolwork. I’ve been told, “effort will not betray,” and I believe that wholeheartedly. If I put my best into my assignments, then I will be content.
Another goal I have is to become more involved in school activities. Throughout my years at Cecil, I haven’t branched out much. I haven’t joined any clubs or watched any sporting events. I would like to attend school activities and meet people who share some of the same interests as me. I don’t want to graduate without having been fully present in my college experience.
The third goal I’ve set is to not be so hard on myself. I tend to push myself to get assignments done quickly, even if I have plenty of time to complete them. This semester, I want to teach myself it’s OK to take breaks. I don’t have to rush through everything. I know it’s going to be difficult to achieve this goal, because I am such a perfectionist.
I urge you all to consider setting your own personal goals for the upcoming semester. It can really inspire you to stay motivated throughout the year.
