The end of summer is fast approaching, and it seems that time is running out to get ready for fall classes. Every year, I get first-day jitters and feel like a child starting at a new school. It calms my nerves to make sure I’m prepared before the first week of courses begin.

I like to keep a printout of my schedule handy so I have an idea of the materials I will need. I set aside all my school things the night before class so I’m not rushing around in the morning. Along with determining what textbooks are required, I’m still trying to enjoy the rest of my break. If I get my materials ready early, then I will have a more relaxing conclusion to my vacation.

I have to remind myself that the semester starting isn’t a bad thing. It’s just an opportunity for new experiences. Though the nice weather will soon be replaced by colder temperatures, autumn offers a lot to look forward to on campus. I am excited to see what my new courses will be like. There are also activities, like sporting events and Welcome Week coming up soon.

Summer ending is bittersweet, and it will likely take me a while to get used to this new school routine. However, instead of dreading the start of classes, accepting it as a positive change has made it easier for me to relax and enjoy the rest of my time off this summer. I wish you all the best with your first week of classes.
