Returning to classes after a long break is hard for anyone, but for college students it means getting up early and stressing out about assignments daily. However, I have four easy ways to help get you back into the swing of things.

  1. Get your textbooks early.

It may be tedious and annoying to get them early, but it benefits you in the long run. You won’t have to worry if the bookstore is going to run out of the ones you need for class.

2. Skim through your textbooks and get accustomed to the material.

If you go through your books before class, you will already know what you’re getting into. This will help ease your first-day jitters and help make you feel more relaxed.

3. Plan ahead.

Planning for your first day back, and setting up for it, will also relieve any built-up stress of feeling unprepared. Organize your class schedule, pack your bookbag ahead of time, and buy a planner to improve your chances for success.

4. Practice yoga or meditate.

Yoga is a great way to distress yourself. It enables you to balance yourself and calm down when you get worked up from having to return to class. By meditating, you can center your mind on positive thoughts to help empower you through your day.

College is hard, but returning to college after break is a lot harder. However, through these simple tasks you will be able to enter the semester with a calmer mind. I hope you all do well in your classes this semester and that you get through them more relaxed than before.
