What everyone should know about tutors
Up until recently, I was unaware of the student tutors at the college. It might seem silly not knowing about this program after being on campus for two years. As it turns out, a number of students are also uninformed on this fact. It was not something that came to my attention until I myself was asked to tutor.
There are schedules of different student tutors who are available throughout the week. Tutors are able to help with a variety of subjects at no cost to the student. It is also important to note that there is nothing shameful about wanting extra practice with a subject. This would have been helpful for me to know when I was taking a math course. That semester was exceedingly stressful and having a better understanding of math would have alleviated some of that anxiety.
Upon talking to my friends, I discovered they were unaware of this program as well. It’s a shame it’s not more widely known because it does a lot of good. Even if you’re someone who already has a solid grasp on the material, visiting a tutor can be beneficial for review during exam time. If you have a concept you are struggling with, even just stopping by for 10 minutes to get clarification may make a huge difference.
I encourage everyone to become more aware of all the programs Cecil offers. Study tools of this nature are often offered to students for free. There are tutor schedules posted near the testing center and in most classrooms, if you are interested. Take advantage of this and get the most out of your college experience.
