Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.

— Pablo Picasso

Davao City —-In time for the celebration of Kadayawan Festival 2014, painter Manuel Mendros had his 1oth Solo Artist Exhibit entitled Black is Beautiful using black pen and paper as medium.

I happen to pass by his exhibit while going to National Bookstore. What got my attention is the mother and child images of his paintings. Madona as he named them.

Here’s a few sample.

One of the many ‘Madona’ displayed at the exhibit.

Other themes include: Father and son, women and children.

‘Ama at anak’
‘Magkapatid’

Artist Manuel is an engineer —a civil, mechanical, geodetic engineer. Through his daytime job as a consultant of many construction companies he is able to pursue his love for painting.

Find out more about him here.
