Digital health to deal with anxiety during COVID-19
It is high time during this pandemic of COVID-19 to take proper care of ourselves by social distancing and being in self-quarantine. The statistics are evidence that confirmed cases in the world are continuously increasing exponentially. During these hard times, stress and anxiety are great problems to deal with. Mental health could be taken care of by being at home and properly using our mobile phones that provide digital health pieces of training.
The most common problem we come across nowadays is SAD- Stress, Anxiety, Depression. Mental health is one of the least discussed health issues. But mental health and physical health goes hand in hand. When something is wrong, we get stressed and worried. When this stress shows physical and mental effects where the daily routine is disturbed, it is much more than stress. It gradually leads to Anxiety and Depression.
Some people work efficiently under pressure and stress. For instance, a person working effectively when the project deadline approaches nearby, such anxiety falls under Facilitative anxiety.
On the other hand, when a person is disturbed and could not complete the project in a given time due to anxiousness, it falls under Debilitative anxiety.
The Cyber problem
In the present day, a huge number of people are being affected by the Internet. It could be in several forms ranging from Cyberbullying to Cyberchondria (checking constantly for responses on their social media).
The anxiety resulted from the Cyber problem leads to various commonly seen disorders such as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder), social phobia, panic attacks, and loss of self-confidence.
Surprisingly, the same internet is embedded in solutions to anxiety. Digital health technology came to the rescue.
Digital health technology proved its utmost help in conditions such as Hypochondriasis (illness anxiety disorder). These applications are available in various disciplines such as some applications that provide meditation programs, while others take you close to our mother nature. The technology reached high to a level of using Virtual reality for the betterment of mental health.
My three favorite unique applications to deal with anxiety are:
Headspace
Headspace is a great application that gives about mindfulness and guided meditation. This helps to keep your mind calm and on regular practice with the application, one can be acquainted with the basic to advanced levels in meditation. It also has specific sessions for various purposes.
Synctuition
Synctuition is an application that provides meditation programs with 3D sound waves and Gamma waves. It has an amazing collection of audio journey tracks in-built with various levels of binaural beats.
Psious
Psious is the first Virtual reality platform for mental health and psychology. It has numerous videos in-built, where their primary care is on Psychology and an increase in the wellness of mental health.
There is no problem in this world without a solution. It is often said to search in the same place where it is lost. As a carpenter cannot fix a problem with plumbing, sometimes the trouble maker is the trouble breaker too.
