Announcing Celebrity Smack Down
We are thrilled to announce Celebrity Smack Down, an NFT card game built on top of the Nervos blockchain. The intention of this project is to provide a hilariously fun experience for play to earn gamers and nft collectors alike as well as serve as a trailblazer project for other teams to learn from on how to build mnfts and games on the Nervos blockchain.
We started this project to do two things: Demonstrate the power of NFTs on the Nervos blockchain and build a kickass NFT based game doing it.
After putting our degenerate heads together, We set out to create an NFT card game we’ve titled Celebrity Smack Down. Inspired by the MTV show celebrity death match, we created celebrity smack down (referenced as CSD) to parody the absurdities of fame and the current climate of cancel culture. Players craft decks of 3 of their favorite celebrities and battle it out against each other with consumables and pr cards to cancel each other.
What makes CSD NFTs special is that the cards are connected to the celebrities twitter feed they parody. CSD NFTs change power levels based on the number of followers the celebrities gain which impacts there effectiveness in game. This functionality is the first step into what we are calling NFT 2.0 which are NFTs with external data attached to them that changes their properties.
Currently, NFTs are static, NFT 2.0 expands on the current functions of NFTs and allows them to change based on external data. The use cases for adding data into NFTs are rich and expansive, from dynamic collectibles to medical records.
In the first version of CSD the data is from a centralized sources but in the future we intend on to launch versions with on chain data and with each NFT connected to individual tweets from the celebrities instead of their overall follower count. How we achieved adding data into mNFTs will be documented in a technical write up which will be out before the end of the year along with sample code.
CSD also serves as a research project to further community knowledge of NFTs on the Nervos blockchain ( known as mNFTs) as well as serve as a trailblazer for NFT games on the Nervos blockchain. We will be sharing as much as we can about our research in the forms of blog post, code samples, and tutorials.
