Neural modelling: numerical methods and applications

Аннотация: 
With an extremely large number of functional units (neurons) and an even larger number of connections between them (synapses) the brain is maybe the most complex system that Science has ever tried to explain and simulate. Neuroscience is nowadays a multidisciplinary field which mobilizes all over the world thousands of scientists of different profiles, from medical doctors to electrical engineers, including mathematicians. In the first part of this talk we will visit some of the most known mathematical models in Neuroscience and recall some of their applications to different fields, including to Economy. The second part of the talk will be concerned with the Neural Field Equations (NFE), a very well-known model used to describe the interactions between large populations of neurons in the cerebral cortex.
