Brazil’s 1st Black Female Filmmakers meeting was held in SP, starting July 25th and going on until Aug 8th. Organized by Black Women only, the Meeting comprised 3 master classes, 5 thematic round tables and the screening of 31 short films of various styles. Tens of Black Female Directors attended, coming from all of the 5 regions of Brazil’ls continental territory. Photo 2 shows hostesses Renata Martins, Maitê Freitas and Issis Valenzuela (SP), Keila Serruya (AM) proudly the largest hairdo, Cíntia Maria (BA)wearing red and turning 31 in that very evening and DSNDDARA(RJ) wearing a panamá hat. Sharing laughters, tears, anger, hope… Much talent and the itching curiosity about what’s next! No words to convey what it means to Brazilian Cinema history, after a century virtually without any Black Women film author.
