Apply for 2025 conference stipends from the Center for Cooperative Media

The Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University is pleased to offer a limited number of stipends — up to $1,000 each — to help cover your costs for national journalism conferences in 2025. This initiative is possible through the generous support of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
If you’re interested, please fill out this form and include a statement (up to 300 words) explaining why you need the stipend, what you plan to do at the conference, and how attending will benefit your journalism work or your newsroom. The stipend can be used for expenses such as registration fees, travel, accommodation, and meals.
You can apply to help cover costs for upcoming conferences, including (but not limited to):
- Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE) Conference, New Orleans, LA, June 19–22
- NAHJ Convention & Expo, Chicago, IL July 9–12
- NABJ Conference & Career Fair, Cleveland, OH, Aug. 6–10
- Indigenous Journalists Conference, Albuquerque, NM, Aug. 13–15
- LION Publishers Independent News Sustainability Summit, St. Louis, MO, Sept. 3–5
- Online News Association Conference, New Orleans, LA, Sept. 10–13

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. To be considered for the first round of funding, please submit your application by Friday, June 20, 2025. The final deadline will be Friday, July 11, 2025.
NJ News Commons members selected for these stipends will be asked to share back photos and information about connections they made during their conference experience.
We’d also love for you to create social media posts or write a short post for possible inclusion in the Center’s “Newsroom Digest” newsletter and on our social media platforms!
