“Thanks for the ride,” she said breathlessly, as they drove away. She walked up the driveway, facing the door. 4:35, just on time. She glanced down, Lincoln’s smile in front of her. “Lucky penny.”

“So, how was your first day?” Bella swerved as she tried to maneuver her car, holding her phone.
“Not bad, thanks. Anyways, gotta go.” She walked into Fast-GO.
“Large drink, one banana, one cheese-stick. That’ll be $4.36.” The woman next to her rummaged around her purse. “I-I only have $4.35, sir.”
Bella offered Lincoln in her hand.
The woman smiled. “Every penny counts.”
