The blurry line between research and reality

Ali was upset to discover she enjoyed researching serial killers for her novel, surprised that a part of her admired the nonchalance with which these murderers took human life, so when it came time to edit her manuscript, she eliminated words, sentences, and entire paragraphs with furious strikes of the delete key that broke her keyboard.

One-sentence stories are a fun literary art form: You squeeze somebody’s entire life story between the sentence’s first letter and period.
