“Why ya holdin’ yer breath?” Davey asked his friend.

Pete exhaled. “Hiccups.”

Another loud one escaped.

“Ah, musical kind. Tried sugar?”

Pete nodded. Inhaled.

“Want me to scare ya?”

Pete’s eyes enlarged. He shook his head.

“Drink from the opposite end of a glass?”

Pete growled. The hiccups stopped.

“Cured!”
