Jasmy were looking for a trusted partner to put their business on the blockchain. So they turned to Centrality.

Jasmy is an enterprise-level, Internet of Things (IoT) provider located in Japan. Founded by former Sony President Kunitake Ando, Jasmy’s mission is to create an IoT platform that customers can use worldwide — all while maintaining control over their data. They engaged with Centrality to deliver blockchain solutions to make their platform safe, secure and easy to use.

What business challenge was Jasmy trying to solve?

IoT has the potential to drastically change people’s lives, including how they utilise food, clothing, housing and mobile. But currently, important data generated by IoT devices, which includes personal data about users, remains under the control of companies providing the IoT infrastructure.

Jasmy engaged with Centrality to integrate blockchain technology into their IoT platform so that individuals could keep their own data safe and secure. By partnering with Centrality, Jasmy was better placed to give control of data back to consumers and remove the liability of holding on to customer information.

Why blockchain?

Integrating blockchain technology was the logical next step for Jasmy. Due to its nature of being an open and decentralised ledger, blockchain removes the need for central authorities and enables data sovereignty for consumers. Securing IoT devices to the blockchain also creates a highly secure environment, safeguarding it against hackers.

What is Centrality delivering for Jasmy?

Centrality is delivering 3 bespoke solutions:

  • Secure Knowledge Communicator (SKC)

A customer support solution that is secured on a private blockchain ledger which protects users’ personal data and providing agents with verified information, without storing customer information.

  • Smart Guardian (SG)

An automation system that secures home and lifestyle IoT devices to individuals’ digital identities.

  • A data marketplace

A new way for customers to interact and utilise their data. As Jasmy believes that data created should belong to the consumer, the data marketplace will offer customers the ability to earn rewards from the data they create while using the Jasmy Platform.

What Centrality protocols does Jasmy leverage and how are they critical for Jasmy’s tech stack?

Jasmy is currently utilising three services provided by Centrality: communications tool Sylo, digital identifier SingleSource and custom blockchain Jasmynet, via the PL^G platform.

Sylo, the decentralised communication protocol, underpins the Secure Knowledge Communicator. This is the first Sylo use-case of web-to-mobile decentralised communication. This means communication between customers and digital support operators remains totally secure.

SingleSource’s KYC identity protocol is used to verify users interacting with the Jasmy IoT platform and secure devices to users’ identities. This creates a whole new way of interaction between people and IoT devices. The KYC identity protocol is also the login authentication tool for operators of the SKC.

Jasmynet is a bespoke blockchain that is powered by PL^G, Centrality’s high-performance, scalable, cross-chain blockchain platform. A key focus of the partnership will be to enable mass-adoption of a blockchain-enabled autonomous IoT network.

With the breath of services and tools that Centrality’s ecosystem offers, there is a constant stream of opportunities for Jasmy to capitilise on. Next steps are to explore integration with Centrality’s supply chain tracker Trackback and payments protocol CentraPay.

By leveraging Centrality’s protocols, Jasmy can deliver an IoT solution globally with unmatched data security and user experience. It has seen the marriage of two emerging technologies: blockchain and IoT. The partnership gives us the opportunity to prove the utility of our blockchain ecosystem to enable security in an exciting area of technological development.
