Recently, the team over at Sylo released a series of videos detailing how to navigate their dApp. This post will summarise those videos in preparation for the launch of our merchandise store as a connected app on their platform (coming Monday 3rd February 2020). In 10 easy steps you’ll be away and racing, so lets get started:

Step 1: Create an account.

All you need for this step is a display name and picture. Following the user friendly interface will lead you to creating a pin number to log in with (in the video Neil used the code “1 2 3 4” which we strongly advise against). That’s it. You have a Sylo account!

Step 2: Add contacts.

Click the big orange “+” button in the lower right corner of your display and choose “invite a new contact.” Then you chose one of the available options to send your friend an invite link or get a QR code for them to scan. To add someone through a QR code, simply scan it through your app and they will be added to your contacts list.

Step 3: Create groups.

To create a group chat in Sylo, all you have to do is click the orange “+” button in the lower right corner of your display and choose “create conversation.” Then, select the contacts you want to add to the group, add a conversation name and display picture, and get to chatting.

Step 4: Back up your secret phrase.

Go to your profile, which can be found in the bottom right of your screen, and select “secret phrase.” Log in with the pin number you made in step 1, and copy the phrase it shows you. We recommend physically writing this down somewhere that you won’t lose it, as it is the only way you will be able to log into your Sylo account from another device. Select “next” and enter your secret phrase in the EXACT order it was shown before.

Step 5: Log in using your secret phrase.

All you have to do for this step is select the button labeled “log in,” and enter your secret phrase in the order that it was given to you. Then, create and confirm a pin number (again, we do NOT recommend using “1 2 3 4”).

Step 6: Set up your wallet.

Select the wallet icon from the menu at the bottom edge of your display, and choose your preferred reference currency. Click “unlock wallet” and enter your pin number to log in.

Step 7: Add funds to your wallet.

Select the wallet icon from the menu at the bottom edge of your display, and log in. Then, select the address that you would like to add funds to. You will then have the option to copy the address to send to someone, be provided with a QR code that they can scan, or request/pay funds from your contacts through the chat function.

Step 8: Send and request funds through the chat feature.

Select a chat that you would like to send or receive funds in and click the transact icon in the lower right hand corner. Then either select send or request, swipe to choose the currency that you would like to use, and you’re good to go!

Step 9: Add a token.

Log in to your wallet and select edit by clicking on the gear icon in the top right hand corner. Then, choose “manage tokens by account” and select a blockchain. Either scroll or use the search icon in the top right corner to find the token you are looking for. In this step it is important to make sure you get the right token by checking both the name and the logo. If you are adding CentraPay (for example, so that you can make purchases from the Centrality merch store) make sure you select the icon below:

To add or remove tokens, simply press the appropriate button to the right of their name.

Step 10: Add multiple wallet addresses.

For this final step you just log in to your wallet and select edit by clicking on the gear icon in the top right hand corner. Then, choose “manage addresses” and pick a blockchain. Add as many accounts as you would like using the orange button at the bottom of your display.

That’s everything, you are now a Sylo expert. Go forth and use your knowledge wisely!
