CSEI and Rural Water Security
2 min readAug 30, 2021
A three part blog series that documents the journey of CSEI’s Food Futures Initiative.
In this series of blogs from our Food Futures Initiative, we reflect on our own journey in enabling data to improve rural water security. These insights emerged from conversations with stakeholders, learning circles, primary analyses of water security plans and digital tools as well as a systematic review of insights from monitoring and evaluation reports.
- Part 1: How do we make a dent in rural water security? That’s the burning question CSEI’s Food Futures Initiative is working on. This post discusses the problems in rural water security, especially focusing on the data use challenge.
- Part 2: Is data informing decisions in rural water security? Helping CSOs use data well to diagnose water challenges in different geographies. This part talks about the major insight from the Learning Circle session. It was unclear how the data being collected was being used to inform their decisions.
- Part 3: Numbers without narratives and narratives without numbers. We need data stories. This part delves into how we approach water data in practice. There is a need for narratives that are backed up by numbers.
