A fresh take on DeFi: Real-World Assets need Compliance

We have partnered with Securitize to bring their category-defining investor onboarding and management product to Tinlake v3. This will enable all of our users to easily onboard one-time and then subscribe to any of our upcoming offerings. We anticipate that this will encourage the growth and confidence of real-world assets in the DeFi space.

A look at how it works

Investor

Investors need to KYC to invest in Tinlake pools. Like many other asset financing operations, Tinlake pools are tied to SPVs, which connect the pools to the real world. KYC helps these pools stay in compliance so there’s no funny business.

How it works:

1. Head to tinlake.centrifuge.io and click “Start your onboarding process now.” Alternatively, you can go to https://centrifuge.invest.securitize.io/#/login.
2. Securitize will verify your information and whitelist your ETH address. Once your account is verified, you will be eligible to invest in any open Tinlake pool.
3. Choose which open pool you would like to invest in from the Centrifuge dashboard and sign the subscription documents.
4. Head to tinlake.centrifuge.io, choose the pool you signed up for and start investing.

Note: There are currently no pools open for investment. But, you can still complete steps 1 and 2 through the Centrifuge dashboard and save time for upcoming pools.

Integration for a Regenerative DeFi experience

We believe integration is one of the core elements of regenerative DeFi: integration with the existing financial world as well as composability in the DeFi space. This is why we chose to focus most of our energy on bringing real-world assets into DeFi.

While it’s a complicated process, we have found the best way to convert real-world assets into NFTs, which then can be borrowed against fungible ERC20 tokens through our pools. The pools are tied to a special purpose vehicle (SPV), which is a way for these assets on the blockchain to communicate with the law. KYC is a way for investors to communicate with compliance, and this partnership will help us in our journey to create a fully compliant and integrated DeFi product.
