One of the largest technology events in the world, with around 170 thousand participants from different countries. The city of San Francisco, California — USA, has stopped to host Dreamforce annual convention from 6/11 to 9/11 to share experiences and trainings on the Salesforce platform.

Why attend Dreamforce?

The Dreamforce is a four days event that transforms your career. Allowing you to innovate, learn, share experiences, and keep in contact with one of the most innovative industries of the world.

On the first day I noticed how organized the event would be, from the moment of the check-in to the event locations. The sessions were divided in trails that you could follow to achieve the challenges of the event.

National Park — Events Map

At my first day I preferred to follow the agenda I'd planned at Moscone West, focused in the follow subjects: Heroku, Integrations in Real-time, Machine Learning (Apache Prediction IO) and Microservices.

@ElangoJoseph presenting how to integrate Platforms in real time.

Salesforce Einstein

@MShaneMc — Einstein presentation

This year, the Salesforce Einstein was one of the trend topics of the event, with many sessions to dive deep in the platform. I preferred to attend three of the myEinstein product:

  • Prediction Builder (Creating custom AI models on any Salesforce)
  • Bots (Easily build, train, and deploy custom bots)
  • Vision (Image recognition API — training deep-learning models to recognize your brand).

IBM & Salesforce: Buiding the AI Partnership for Business

“The combination of Einstein and Watson will make businesses smarter and our customers more successful,” said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO, Salesforce. “I’m thrilled to form an alliance with IBM – no company’s core values are as close to Salesforce’s as IBM’s. It’s the best of both worlds.”

Salesforce and IBM will initially deliver the following:

IBM Watson and Salesforce Einstein Integration: Integrating IBM Watson APIs into Salesforce will bring predictive insights from unstructured data, inside or outside an enterprise, together with predictive insights from customer data delivered by Salesforce Einstein to enable smarter, faster decisions across sales, service, marketing, commerce and more. For example, by combining local shopping patterns, weather and retail industry data from Watson with customer-specific shopping data and preferences from Salesforce Einstein, a retailer will be able to automatically send highly personalized and localized email campaigns to shoppers.

Data is the new Oil

Chris Castle and Ryan Townsend started the presentation with a provocation: "Is your company prepared to deal with billions of transactions simultaneously"?

For me this was one of the best presentations of the event. The term "Data is the new Oil" provoked my interest to dive deep in this area. Although the main subject of the presentation is about Event-Driven Architectures with Apache Kafka on Heroku and how to deal with million and billions of transactions simultaneously. In my humble opinion Heroku platform is much more user-friendly than other platforms I've worked before.

Developer Forest

A good area to spend a lot of time. With multiple tech presentations in different topics. In this area was presented the “Booth Force” where many companies could present their products and solutions in Salesforce.

Dreamforce is a life changing

I've been working with Salesforce for more than 3 years, creating tools and solutions that have a huge impact in corporations. The Dreamforce was the chance to understand how the Salesforce platform works under the hood, apply the PBL (Problem-Based Learning) in practice, talk with people from multiple countries and share experiences. In fact this is the event that every Salesforce Trailblazer should attend.
