CIVICLASH

(By Tanisha Pradhan and Satyajit Mohanty)

Day 1 of Sannidhya 2017 witnessed a quizzing event called Civiclash. The prelims round was held at around 11 AM in D105. Around 13 teams participated in the prelims round. 20 questions were asked in this round, out of which 17 were in a written format, and 3 were in visuals. The questions were mostly general knowledge based, basically on Civil Engineering stuffs like Buildings, Structures, Monuments, Construction Firms, etc. At the end of the session, the answers were told to the participants.

The finals were conducted on Day 3, in which 5 teams had qualified from the prelims round. The finals was of a face-off type. There were five stages in the finals. The first was random picking of cards consisting of technical, general and current affairs questions on Civil Engineering. Participants had to choose between those, the condition being that those were hidden under certain symbols.

The second stage was a visual round in which the participants had to identify the structures shown in the pictures. The third stage was a descriptive round in which the participants had to write down the solutions of civil related logical questions in one or two lines. The fourth stage was a force round. The fifth stage was a hangman round — a ‘fill in the blanks’ type of round with clue revelation. The finals were completely computer app controlled.

At the end, Sarada Prasanna Nayak and Shubham Mohapatra became the winners, while Ronisha Das and Parakh Tripathy became the runners-up.
