Asian Banks Outline Blockchain Use Cases in Singapore

On June the 20th and 21st this year, FinTech Network will host the ‘Blockchain for Finance Conference, Asia Pacific’ in Singapore, which will help companies to evaluate the latest use cases and POC’s to help assess the viability of adopting distributed ledger technology. Experts from Manulife, Mizuho, China Construction Bank, Nordea, BNY Mellon, Monetary Authority of Singapore, MUFG, Standards Australia, JPX. R3, Viewfin Metaverse and others will present to an audience on possible applications of the technology.

Financial Institutions are keen to identify the commercial opportunities that blockchain technology can offer their business and ways it can help to reduce costs, improve reporting, reduce fraud and enhance security and visibility. Organisations are advised to collaborate and start implementing this technology. During the event areas such as finance use cases, blockchain strategies, regulation, compliance & standards, technology challenges and adopting blockchain will be addressed.

As part of the conference, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, China Construction Bank, Mizuho & OCBC Bank will set out their blockchain strategies to give attendees an understanding of the capability of blockchain. The Monetary Authority of Singapore will review the Intellectual Property challenge and how the recent influx of patent filings may impact the wider financial services sector. The R3 consortium will tackle the unknowns and business challenges associated with blockchain adoption and Manulife will describe how it sees blockchain playing a vital role in optimising current processes in insurance and how a decentralised approach could help improve security and trust.

In addition, BNY Mellon, Nordea Bank, Japan Exchange Group, Metaverse, Astri, Standards Australia and ACCESS will talk on how to improve blockchain strategy. Breakout sessions will also be held on blockchain in trade finance and public vs private blockchain.
