English start-up Zonafide has released a blockchain Digital Wallet for Securing Activities which can be used by the public on Android and Apple iOS. It is designed to enable people to work together to secure activities, with the result of making it quicker and easier for someone to verify their authenticity. One of the key goals of the platform is to make it less likely that people become victims of fraud. In addition to this, it aims reduce friction in the customer experience and facilitates increased automation.

Some examples that Zonafide sees the solution being used for include instructing a solicitor to make a house payment, confirming a change of details with a bank, or authority for workmen to access premises. However, the initial drive behind the development of the platform was due to various experiences of identity theft that the founders see the blockchain as having the capacity to solve.

Paul Worrall, Founder & CEO, commented: “Our vision is that nothing should happen unless you want it to. Until Zonafide there was no universal way for people and organisations to share trust like this.”

The first application of Zonafide is in partnership with Local Authorities across England and Wales, enabling people going through life events such as marriage or bereavement to securely update their Service Providers with a change of details. Currently the company is working with councils in Camden, Kensington and Chelsea and Enfield.

At the moment, Zonafide is focused on on-boarding companies to be prepared to accept the life notices from the public. In the future, it aims to resource itself so it can support corporate procurement cycles. It has also signed with the law form CMS McKenna to counsel on an ICO, with white paper due out in October 2017.
