The Chain Ministry
In Pax Timor, the Lord Emperor is seen as deity, and his will is law. But even he cannot manage all the workings of the Eternal Empire by himself.
The Chain Ministry is part religion and part bureaucracy of the Eternal Empire. Their role is to make sure both the Raf and the Nobility adhere to the strict dogma of the Lord Emperor’s rule. They are also deeply involved in planning and development of these dogma and their political and institutional extensions. It is fair to say they control the gears and levers that make the Eternal Empire run.
The Chain Ministry was created in the second millennium of the Lord Emperors rule. Prior to this, riots and insurrections were rampant. But the Chain Ministry with their strict control and not least their inquisitors have had a firm grip on the population since it’s creation.
The Chain Inquisitors
The Chain Inquisitors are at the top of the Chain Ministry hierarchy. Once a high priest is allowed into the ranks of the inquisitors, his mind is made immutable and he no longer has any will, except that of the Lord Emperor. It is a grueling process where the subjects spine is replaced with a special metal chain giving them a distinct horrific look.
It is said that the Lord Emperor and his Chain Inquisitors have a shared mind. Some swear to have witnessed The Lord Emperor take control over an inquisitors body and control even his movements.
The main concern of the Chain Inquisitors is to root out insurrections before they have a chance to get started. They keep a close eye on the Raf, the Nobility and even the Chain Ministry priests.
If you ever face a Chain Inquisitor, you better run in the other direction.
Chain Inquisitors as NPCs in ChainBorn
For the ChainBorn game we will be creating several NPCs based on the Chain Inquisitor lore. They will be automated players controlled by scripts. They play by the same rules as everyone else.
