Six steps to an awesome Chainium user experience

We’re building the world’s first dual blockchain equity network. That’s the back end. It’s complex. It needs to be awesome. And we’ve got a lot of work to do. But our team of developers are making fantastic progress as we’ve just shared in our latest development news.

But what about the front end? Our user interface (UI) needs to be awesome too. And the most important perspective on what makes it ‘awesome’ is the users — the businesses, investors and third parties who will use our equity platform to raise capital, trade shares and service their shareholders.

What makes an awesome user experience?

One word — simplicity. When it comes down to it, we believe that’s all that counts. A user wants their experience to be simple, easy and effortless. Frictionless even. They don’t want to work hard. They don’t want to read a guide about how to use the platform. They don’t want to require a call/chat to the service team to explain how it works. It just needs to work. Simple.

So how will we create a simple & awesome user experience for Chainium users?

Six steps to a great user experience

We’re taking a six-step approach…

1. Step one- we’ve mapped out the journeys that investors and businesses will take on our platform.

We’ve considered all types of tasks they’ll want to do. For instance, businesses will want to set up their business profile, create a share offer, track its success and then manage shareholders in all different ways during their business lifecycle. Whereas investors will want to search for shares, buy, sell and interact with the business they’ve invested in and other shareholders. We’ve mapped out all of these journeys, and more, so we can design for the user first.

2. Step two– we’ve sought inspiration from far and wide.

We’ve look at equity and financial services user interfaces, of course, but that’s just the start. We’ve checked out UIs from completely unrelated fields as you never know where inspiration will come from. And we have a team who have worked on technology projects, for many businesses over the years, so we’ve learnt a lot from our own successes and mistakes!

3. Step three– we’ve designed version 1 and then we iterate, iterate, iterate.

We’ll never get it right first time. We’re far too long in the game to know that. So we plan for continuous learning and improvements. We test, we fail, we learn, we update, we test, we fail… In all of our processes.

4. Step four- we get external expert advice.

We have a team of developers, designers, product developers and UX types who have worked on many UI projects in the past. But we know when to call on the experts. We seek out UI experts to challenge us, critique our work and bring cutting edge technology and ideas to our design. We’ve engaged experts in design, authentication and many more expert fields.

5. Step five- we get real people to test it.

Not Chainium staff. Not our family and friends. Real people who will give us brutally honest feedback on what works and what doesn’t. We believe in real testing in a real environment. We’re testing our UI with businesses, investors and developers. And we pay close attention to their feedback. It’s priceless.

6. Step six-never stop improving.

When we’re live, we’ll review feedback, we’ll track behaviour, we’ll continuously release updates and improvements. The launch is just the beginning.
